steps to address the ones that can be changed. There are two major risk factors
for heart disease. They are controllable and uncontrollable risk factors.
Uncontrollable risk factors, just like the name sounds cannot be changed but
there is a way you can reduce the chances of developing heart disease. Let’s

factors and ways we can reduce the chances of developing full blown heart
diseases.

Risk Factors
We have three major Uncontrollable risk factors. they
are:
- Aging. Nine out
of 10 people that died from coronary heart diseases are over 65 years of age.
The coronary heart diseases factor increase as you age.
- Gender. Once a
woman has gone through menopause, the risk of heart disease increases. Generally,
Men have a greater risk of heart disease than women. They develop it
earlier in life when compared with their female folks.
- Heredity.
If several members of your family have had heart disease, there is a high possibility
of you developing heart disease.
Controllable
Risk Factors
Changes
in Life style can help you to reduce the chances of developing heart disease
even if you have Uncontrollable risk factors. That is where the Controllable
risk factors comes in.
Below
are ways to control and reduce the chances of developing heart disease:
- Limit alcohol use;
Too much of alcohol consumption can cause a spike in your blood pressure
thereby putting you at the risk of developing high blood pressure which is
one of the risk factor that causes heart disease.
- Stop Smoking.
Dropping your smoking habit will reduce the chance of developing heart
disease.
- Keep a healthy
weight. Too much of weight can add more pressure to your heart.
- Ensure that you
eat healthy foods that are low in saturated fats and sodium and high in
fiber.
- Have your blood
pressure checked two times daily. You can do this by yourself by using

- Regular Exercise.
Exercising at least 4 times in a week will help out in controlling the
